Energy and time exert mysterious forces on all living things. Change, as the adage goes, is the only constant. A blossom buds, blooms, and fades. A baby grows through childhood into the vitality of adolescence, and if fortunate, lives through adulthood into old age. The surface is transformed, yet the essential beauty remains.
The Transience images investigate the transitory nature of life and celebrate beauty in all its phases, from the emerging bud to the spent blossom.
About the Edition
Each image is produced in a limited edition of 20 archival pigment prints, photographed, printed, and mounted on wooden panels by the artist. The panels measure 12" x 36" across the surface with a 1½" edge painted a dark purple-black to match the deepest shadows. An archival, UV filtering varnish is used to coat the prints to protect them from fading. It is still a good idea to keep prints out of direct sunlight.
